STEELEVILLE – Rose M. Bartens, 79, of Steeleville, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, Chester, IL.
Rose was born May 1, 1942, in Campbell Hill, IL, to Herbert & Bertha Lange Liefer. She married Glen M. Bartens, on December 19, 1964, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2001. Rose was baptized May 10, 1942, and confirmed on March 25, 1956, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was retired from Gilster Mary Lee and was a homemaker. Rose was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, and was continually active in the church with St. Mark's LWML, past choir, bell choir, and being a finance officer. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville, and was a 4H leader for 20 plus years.
Rose is survived by her children; Reverend Norlyn (Elaine) Bartens of Neligh, NE, Marvin (Joyce) Bartens of Steeleville, Ryan Bartens of Steeleville, and Lynette (Rudy) Ortego of Mandeville, LA, Grandchildren; Emmett (Jaimie) Bartens, Faron (fiancé Olivia) Bartens, Luke Bartens, Logan Bartens, Danielle (Bryan) Carrigan, Jamie (Warren) Dragon, Joshua (Savannah) Ortego, Jace (fiancé Lene) Ortego, nine Great Grandchildren, Siblings; Roger (Sadie) Liefer of St. Peters, MO, Eldean Troue of Steeleville, Dale (Debbie) Liefer of Ballwin, MO, Marla (Steve) Helmers of Steeleville.
Rose is also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Arlin Liefer.
Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, 5 – 8 pm, on Friday, July 2, 2021, 7:30 – 9 am, Saturday, July 3, 2021, and 10 – 11 am, Saturday, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am, with Reverend Mark E. Harriss officiating. Burial services will immediately follow at St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's General Fund or St. Mark's LWML and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
