Obituary
CHESTER, Rosalie Brown Crosley, 93, of Chester, formerly of Percy, passed away at 11:20 PM Monday, October 23, 2017, at Three Springs Lodge in Chester, Illinois. She was born February 13, 1924 in Percy, Illinois the daughter of George R and Gladys (Hatcher) Brown. Rosalie married John R. Crosley on June 9, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas. He passed away on May 10, 1979.
Rosalie was a retired teacher, having taught for 36 years. She started teaching in Ava and at SIU Teacher Training in Rockford and Chicago. Rosalie graduated from Southern Illinois Normal University with a BS in Education in 1943 and a Master in Education in 1948.
Rosalie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Percy, IL. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Steeleville Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the National Association of Biology Teachers, SIU Alumni Association and Chicago Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by several cousins and many friends.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Wilson's Funeral Home Percy, Illinois with Rev. Terry Jackson officiating. Burial will be at 2PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Masonic and Odd Fellow Cemetery, Benton, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Percy, on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
