WILLISVILLE – Rolla "Dean" Stoffel, 95, of Willisville, passed away at 12:35 pm, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare, DuQuoin, Illinois.

Rolla "Dean" was born in Ava, Illinois, on June 23, 1928, the son of Rolla B. and J. Irene Benson Stoffel. He married Florence M. Hornbostel on August 9, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church-West Point, Campbell Hill, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2011. Dean was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church-West Point, Campbell Hill. He began his working career at the age of 9 in the family business, delivering ice in the Trico area. He was a noted and well respected live stock dealer in the area for many years. He specialized in Bull leasing. Dean was retired from Illinois Department of Corrections, starting as a Correctional Officer in 1951 moving up through the ranks, retiring as Assistant Warden at Menard Correctional Center in 1982.

Dean is survived by three children, Joyce (Robert) Presswood of Coulterville, Randy (Dianne) Stoffel of Percy, and Bonnie Stoffel of Murphysboro; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Cheryl) Presswood, Alison (Heath) Oakley, Robert (Tiffany) Presswood, Traci (Jerry) Witthoft, and Wesley (Alysia) Stoffel; 13 great grandchildren, Jordan Oakley, Ashli Presswood, Samantha Brandt, Sydney Witthoft, Jacob Witthoft, Nathan Witthoft, Robert Sheely, Brooklynn Stoffel, Kaleb Stoffel, Rylee Presswood, Sydney Presswood, Kristin Presswood, and Rayleigh Stoffel; 3 great great grandchildren, Hunter Reese, Colt Brandt, and Josalyn Johnson.

Dean was preceded in death by his Parents; granddaughter, Tara Lynn Stoffel; brother, Calvin Stoffel; and two sisters, Betty Biermann and Sylvia Ruby.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church-West Point, Campbell Hill, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church-West Point, on Tuesday from 5 pm until 8 pm, and on Wednesday from 8 am until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Looney Springs Cemetery.
