SPARTA – Roland L. Wittenborn, of Sparta, passed away, February 18, 2021, in Coulterville, Illinois.
Roland was born in Palestine, IL, to Raymond and Mabel (Steffens) Wittenborn. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sparta, and had retired as a Pressman from Spartan Printing after 35 years. Roland was a 65-year member of Hope Lodge #162, A.F. and A.M., Sparta, and G.I.C.U. Union at Spartan Printing. He also enjoyed playing his guitar.
Roland is survived by his daughters; Lou Ann (Melvin) Eggemeyer of Sparta, IL, and Lois Faye (John) Wolfe of Perryville, MO, Granddaughters; Annette Miller of St. Louis, MO, Valerie Kessel of Hermitage, TN, and Kara (Gary) Hopewell of Ocoee, FL, Great grandchildren; Zane and Zoey Miller, Sisters; Lois Dearing, Ruby (Joe) Sendek of Murphysboro, IL, Bonnie (Jerry) Rushing of Tamaroa, IL, Sister-in-laws, Sharon Wittenborn and Betty Luthy, Special friends, Zernie Tretter and family of Murphysboro, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Roland was also preceded in death by his wife Lois Luthy, on February 6, 2012, Brothers, Delmar and John Wittenborn, Sister, Lucille Weichens, Brother-in-laws, John Luthy and Jack Carruthers, Sister-in-law, Marie Carruthers.
It was Roland's wished for cremation and Graveside services will be Saturday, February 27, 2021, Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL at 2 pm, with Reverend Randy Mc Geehon officiating. Burial to follow. Everyone is welcome to gather at Cemetery starting at 1:30 pm. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Sparta, IL, and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
