JACOB - Robert Edward Vogel, 91, of Jacob, passed away at 12:34 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home. Robert was born in Jackson County, IL on September 6, 1922, the son of Arthur T. and Clara M. Oetjen Vogel. Robert married Evelyn Biermann Kranawetter of August 2, 1968 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and was a farmer. Robert was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Jacob; Jackson County Farm Bureau; and a lifetime member of the Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, Chester. Robert is survived by his wife, Evelyn Vogel of Ava; one step son, Ronald (Patricia) Kranawetter of Jacob; three step daughters, Karen (Tony) Mayberry of Rockwood, IL, Bonnie (Louie) Heiple of Ava, and Christine (Doug) Thies of Campbell Hill; 10 step grandchildren, Tamela (Mike) Little of St. Charles, MO, Jeremy (Laura) Thies of Campbell Hill, Joni (Chad) Fisher of Ava, Brad Thies of Campbell Hill, Amber (Ethan) Smith of Campbell Hill, Casey (Michael) Lindner of Campbell Hill, Dustin Heiple and Friend, Danyele of Steeleville, Matthew (Callie) Mayberry of Rockwood, Logan Thies of Campbell Hill and Amanda Kranawetter and Fiancée, Brad Green of Jacob, IL; five step great grandchildren, Jace & Aria Little, Brody Fisher, Hayden Smith, and Hanna Thies; one brother, Joel (Bert) Vogel of Florissant, MO; one niece, Rhea (Tipper) King of St. Louis, MO; and three nephews, Joel (Donna) Vogel, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Mike (Mary) Tuerck of St. Louis, MO, and Bob (Tina) Tuerck of Dallas, TX. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one step grandson, Jonathon Kranawetter; two sisters, Norma Tuerck and Rhea Kauffman; and one infant brother. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Christ Lutheran Church, Jacob with Rev. Mike Kettner officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until 8:30 am then from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois Blue West.
