STEELEVILLE – Robert "Rob" H. Schroeder, Jr., 70, of Steeleville, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Rob was born in Chester, Illinois, on January 2, 1950, the son of Robert and Doris J. Aspley Schroeder.  He married Debra Stewart on November 20, 1982 at Steeleville United Methodist Church, Steeleville.  Rob was a member of Sparta United Methodist Church, Sparta, Illinois.  He was very active with the Scouting program in Steeleville, along with the church choir and Chester Municipal Band.  Rob was a life member of the SIU Alumni Association, graduating with the Class of 1972.

Rob is survived by his wife, Debra Schroeder of Steeleville; Sons; Michael Schroeder of Carbondale, Illinois, Patrick (Hannah) Schroeder of Carbondale, Illinois, and Daniel (Lindsay) Schroeder of Steeleville, Illinois.  Three grandchildren; Skyler, Kade, and Logan.  Sister, Dr. Blythe (Roland Wildman) Schroeder of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Nephews; Keith Surman of Marion, Illinois and Christopher Surman of San Diego, California.

Rob was preceded in death by his Parents and one sister, Joyce Surman.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 7:00 PM,  at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Reverend Randy McGeehan officiating.  Memorials may be given to the Scouting Program in Steeleville.  To sign the guestbook visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net .  By executive order, face masks are required, and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
