STEELEVILLE - Robert J. Cleland, 85, of Steeleville, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Robert was born in Randolph County, Illinois on October 4, 1927, the son of Charles E. and Mabel Robb Cleland. He married Dorothy M. Schlueter on March 25, 1950 in Bremen, IL. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2007. Robert was retired from World Color Press in Sparta. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville and Sons of American Legion Post #480, Steeleville. Robert enjoyed winter in Texas and restoring old tractors. Robert is survived by three sons and two daughters, Gary (Marla) Cleland of Steeleville, Jim (Bev) Cleland of Steeleville, Jan (Mike) Parr of Springfield, IL, Lori (Ray) Hill of Steeleville, and Scott (Julie) Cleland of Huntington Beach, CA; 13 grandchildren, Derek, Brett and Ryan Cleland, Lindsay Kranz and Tyler Cleland, Amanda Feldmann and Amy Parr, Philip and Lauren Chadderton, Kayla and Robert Cleland, and Jeff and Jason Hill; 8 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Dolores Cook of Coulterville. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one great granddaughter, Emily Kranz; and three sisters. Funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 4, 2012 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke. Visitation will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday. Funeral under auspices of Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
