AVA – Rick Gordon, 53, of Ava, passed away at 7:32 pm, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
Rick was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, on October 31, 1963, the son of James T. and Dolores McCoy Gordon. He married Vivian Phelps on January 16, 2009 in Branson, Missouri. Rick was the owner of Hillside Auto Body in Campbell Hill. Rick was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Ava; F.O.E. Aeries #3781 in Sullivan, MO; Ainad Shrine; and Masonic Lodge #498 A.F. & A.M., Murphysboro. Rick was a Trustee for Kinkaid Township. He volunteered for many years for the Ava Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Ava Saddle Club and served as president, for many years.
Rick is survived by his wife, Vivian Gordon of Ava; his children, Travis (Julie) Gordon of Percy, Carissa (BJ) Thompson of Ava, Chayla (Brandon) Wyatt of Murphysboro and Cody (Becca) Gordon of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Madi, Marissa, Makayla, Lyle, Mia, Jaxton, Ryder, Arianna, Brae, and Kingston; and sister, Kathy (Brad) Bruns of Ava.
Rick was preceded in death by his Parents; sister, Phyllis Hewerdine; brother, Gary Gordon, Sr.; and nephew, Gary Gordon, Jr.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava with Debra Rathert, Lay Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
