AVA – Richard Lee Latham, 85, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.

Richard was born on October 15, 1940, in Lancaster, IL, to Frank and Evelyn (Seibert) Latham. He married Carole Jean Davis on July 23, 1966, she preceded him in death on June 28, 2001. He then married Doris Duvardo at Christ Community Church, Murphysboro, IL on April 22, 2006. Richard had retired from Caterpillar Tool & Die Maker. He was a member of Redeemer Community Church, Carbondale, IL, and the Promise Keepers.

Richard is survived by his wife, Doris Latham of Ava, IL, his children: Amy Latham-Markland, Heather (James) Cooper, Matthew (Leana) Latham, Robby Latham, Alisha Latham; his stepchildren: Tony (Laura) Berry, Jeff (Sandi) Berry, Billie Nichole (Don) Cameron; his grandchildren: Danielle (Jeremy) Morrison, Ty Shawn Markland, Tyler (Gloria) Newberry, Anthony (Ashlee) Newberry, Patrick Newberry, Jr.; his step grandchildren: Ryan (Carla) Berry, Aaron (Jenna) Berry, Mark (Tina) Berry, Kristin (Jordan) McClaine, Kayla (John) Aitken, Lane Reiman, Emma Reiman, Michael Berry; his 9 great grandchildren, his 8 step great grandchildren, and his brother, Bob (Sally) Latham.

Richard was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Raymond and Kevin, his sister, Loretta (Charlie), his son, Kendarius “Kenny,” his granddaughter, Kristen Markland, and his stepson, Greg Berry.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, 11:00 am, Wilson’s Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Pastor Jacob Swain officiating. Burial to follow at Bower Cemetery, Ava, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2026, where friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, and on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 7:30 – 11:00 am at the funeral home.
