VALIER – Reverend Harry A. Jones, 81, of Valier, formerly of Cutler, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Franklin Hospital, Benton, IL.
Harry was born November 30, 1940, in Pinckneyville, IL, to Winford and Ruth Bigham Jones. He married Susie Lee Gaetz on December 4, 1982, in Cutler, IL. Harry was an Army Veteran of the Korean war. He was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Church, Benton, IL. Harry was former owner and operator of Jones Excavating, Steeleville, IL. He went into ministry in 1990, retiring from pastoring in 2010, but was still actively ministering in the area. Harry enjoyed working his Prayer Ministry and sharing the Word of the Lord. He also enjoyed working his bird dogs.
Harry is survived by his wife, Susie Jones of Valier, IL, children: Donald (Tammy) Gaetz of Steeleville, IL, Jon (Sheila) Gaetz of Percy, IL, Bryan (Angela) Gaetz of Aloha, OR; grandchildren: RyLee Ragland, Kalin Bridges, Corey Knop, Amy Fraembs, Tania Borton, Cameron Gaetz, Levi Gaetz, Madison Gaetz, Cody Knop, Justin Gaetz, Chyenne Steckley; seventeen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, siblings: Harley (Phyllis) Jones of Valier, IL, Patsy West (Rollie) of Moline, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lynette Ragland, one grandson, Brady Golliday, brothers, Russell Jones, Mike Jones, and one sister, Wanda Spangler.
A Celebration of Life/Going Home Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, March 21, 2022, at Tri-County Pentecostal Church, Cutler, IL, with Rev. Billy Pendergrass officiating. Burial to follow at Mueller Hill, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends and family may call from 10:30 – 1:00 pm, at the church.
