STEELEVILLE – Raymond L. Schnaare, 94, of Steeleville, passed away at 8:37 am, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, Illinois.
Raymond was born in Ava, Illinois on May 10, 1921, the son of Albert and Elizabeth Devolt Schnaare. He married Dorine Misselhorn on September 22, 1946 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill. Raymond was a Blacksmith. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII. He was a member of Non-Denominational Church and the Campbell Hill American Legion Post #1096 in Campbell Hill.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Dorine Schnaare of Steeleville; his children, Rosalie (Ron) Davis of Pieron, IL, Marilyn K. (Lester) Meyerhoff of Ashville, AL, Daniel (Janett) Schnaare of Centralia, MO, and Steve (Rhonda) Schnaare of Sparta; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his Parents; and two brothers, Gene and Lester.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Jeffrey Vogelzang officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Campbell Hill. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 11 am until 2 pm on Sunday. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
