CHESTER – Raymond G. "Porky" Rosendohl, Sr., 93, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 5:50 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta.
Raymond was born on August 25, 1922 in Perry County, Illinois, the son of Perhem and Lucy Schmidt Rosendohl. He married Ruth A. Blockley on November 3, 1962. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2011. Raymond was a Navy veteran having served during WWII. Raymond was a member of the Protestant Faith and the Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553 of Chester. He was retired from Chester Mental Health.
Raymond is survived by his children, Robert Rosendohl of Chester, Lana (Edward) Preciado of Oceanside, CA, Pam (Neil) Haley of Evansville, IL, Raymond Rosendohl, Jr. of Chester, Denise (Rodney) Gendron of Jackson, MO, Melanie (Eddie) Eckart of Chester, Diann (Rob) Miles of Chester, Kellie Koeneman (Marc Quillman) of Chester; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson.
Raymond was preceded in death in by his Parents; one daughter-in-law, Sylvia Rosendohl; one great granddaughter, Jessica Heferkamp; one great great granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn; one brother, Kenneth Rosendohl; and one sister, Juanita Dennis.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Rev. Cecil Dunning officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm to 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society.
