STEELEVILLE - Raymond L. Hill, 69, of Steeleville, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home in Steeleville, Illinois. Raymond was born on March 3, 1946, in Marion, Illinois, the son of Herman and Nellie (nee Dooley) Hill. He married Lori Cleland Chadderton on March 1, 1997 in Steeleville. Raymond received his Bachelor's in Education from SIU-C and his Master's from Northwestern University. Ray started his career in education teaching and coaching at Evanston, Illinois. In 1978, he started as principal at Trico High School, serving as principal, teacher and principal again, then retiring in June of 2003. Ray touched so many lives with his love for his students and staff. Raymond was a United States Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville and B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. Raymond is survived by his wife, Lori Hill of Steeleville; his son, Jeff Hill and his wife, Amy and grandson, Miles of Gladstone, OR; son, Jason Hill and his wife, Elisabeth of Carbondale, IL; stepson, Philip Chadderton of Denver, CO; stepdaughter, Lauren Hinnerichs, her husband, Kyle and granddaughter, Allie of Steeleville; brother, Jack Hill, and his wife, Mary of Goreville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his Parents and a half brother, John Hill. Memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Kelly Bedard officiating. Private interment services will be held at a later date at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Trico High School or Junior High Fund for Needy Students or a Scholarship to be established in Raymond's name.
