Obituary
PERCY – Rayburn "Ray" Brockmeyer, 73, of Percy passed away at 12:15 AM, Sunday, December 2, 2018, at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester.
Rayburn was born on May 21, 1945, in Percy, the son of Martin and Hulda (Weaver) Brockmeyer. Ray married Carolyn A. Rubach, on October 2, 1965, at West Point, Illinois. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict Mr. Brockmeyer was a former partner in Brockmeyer Bros., and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation as a maintainer. He was a member of the BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, Chester, Shiloh Hill Community Club, and the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill.
Ray is survived by his wife; Carolyn A. Brockmeyer, of Percy, 2 daughters; Cheryl Brockmeyer, of Garden City South Carolina, and Lori Brockmeyer, of Okawville, Illinois. He is also survived by 3 sisters; Darlene (Herman) Mayer, of Steeleville, Lavern (Willard) Bockhorn, of Sparta, Anita (George) Miller, of Campbell Hill, one sister- in –law; Dolores Brockmeyer, of Steeleville.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 1 brother; Verdell (Edgar) Wolters, Wilma (Edgar) Westerman, Marlin Brockmeyer, Bernadine (Lester) Loucks, and Ruby (Jim) Mattingly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill, with Rev. Sean Smith officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Thursday from 7:30 AM to 9 and then from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Organ Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
