AVA – Randall Eugene "Gene" Williamson, 101, of Ava, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carrier Mills, Illinois.

Gene was born on February 25, 1923, in Ava, IL, the son of Murry Ardell and Eunice (Bilderback) Williamson. He married Mary Magdelene Stein on September 6, 1947, Ava, IL, she preceded him in death on February 5, 1974. Gene was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ava, IL, and Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, Chester, IL.

Gene is survived by his children: Sondra (Gary) Rosendohl of Willisville, IL, Pamela (Steve) McGriff of Elkville, IL, Lynn (Butch) Morber of Harrisburg, IL, Cecil (Suzanne) Charles of Kirkwood, MO; daughter-in-law: Mitzi Williamson of Lucedale, MS, his grandchildren: Jennifer (Dave Witthoft) Anderson, Lori (Adam) McGee, Greg (Julie) Rathert, Stephanie (Todd) Beckman, Christy (Kenny) Shires, Ryan Rathert, Jeremy (Jessica) Morber, Lindsay (Donovan) Woodard, Whitney (Brandon) Whitmire; his 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Gene was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald E. Williamson, a granddaughter, Angela Soule, a great granddaughter, Kennedy Anderson, 3 brothers: Ray, Loy, and Murry, Jr. Willamson and a sister, Ruby Falkenheim.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Rev. Bob Spangler officiating. Burial to follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Wilson's Funeral Home, where friends may call from 12:30 pm until time of service.
