CAMPBELL HILL - Ralph Thies, 82, of Carbondale, and formerly of Campbell Hill passed away at 12:48 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2019, at his home in Carbondale.

Ralph was born on October 16, 1936, in Campbell Hill the son of William and Marie (Ehlers) Thies. Ralph was in the U.S. Army from 1961- 1963, and then worked as a truck driver until he retired. He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, and the Teamster Union #50, Swansea, Illinois.

Ralph is survived by a son; Michael (Toni) Thies, of Campbell Hill, daughter; Diane (David) Moore, of Pinckneyville, 2 grandchildren; Nicholas (Jasmine) Reuscher, Joshua (Katie) Reuscher, 6 step grandchildren; Jason (Jennifer) Griffin, Ryan (Melissa) Griffin, Jonathan (Jessica) Griffin, Elizabeth Reeder, Steven Hart, Eric (Marie) Hart, 20 great grandchildren.

Mr. Thies was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant brothers, 3 sisters; Flora Ebers, Pearl Korando, Ruby Korando, 2 brothers; Norman Thies, Melvin Thies, and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, with Sidney Rathert officiating, burial will follow in the St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning at the church where friends may call from 9 to 11 AM. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
