STEELEVILLE, Ralph R. Hampton, "Squeak", 89, of Steeleville, passed away at 10:10 A.M. Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, IL. He was born August 2, 1920 in Chester, Illinois the son of Ralph E. Hampton and Agnes (Jones) Hampton. He married Ruth Meierhoff on November 20, 1941 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Illinois. Ralph was a retired supervisor from World Color Press; he worked at Sparta Printing for 36 years. Ralph was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, St. Mark's Lutheran Layman League, Pressman Union #383, Former Boy Scout Leader and Master Scout, he also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn as well as fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife Ruth Hampton of Steeleville, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and C.O. Bannister of Sparta, IL, Mary Lynn and Glenn Gerlach of Steeleville, IL; six grandchildren: Carla Long, Tara Byington, Tricia Funston, Garrett Gerlach, Melissa Sauerwein, and Andy Gerlach; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Florence Wrobelwski and Roseloen Palmer, one granddaughter Kendra Bannister. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke of St. Marks's Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Tuesday from 5-8 PM and on Wednesday from 7:30 to 9am and then from 10 to 11am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
