STEELEVILLE – Prentice P. "Pete" Wilson, 89, of Steeleville, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his home in Steeleville, IL.

Pete was born in Sparta, IL, on April 10, 1933, the son of Prentice W. and Pauline H. (Palmer) Wilson.  He married Hazel I. Laufer on August 19, 1951, in Baldwin, IL. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2022. Pete was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from World Color Press, Inc, Salem, IL. Pete was a member of Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, IL, and Kaskaskia VFW Post 3553, Chester, IL.

Surviving is his children: Gail (Neal) Alford of Ecuador, Matthew (Jacquie) Wilson of Central, SC, Kathy (Danny) Eggemeyer of Steeleville; his grandchildren: Scott (Kim) Taylor, Joseph (Rachel) Taylor, Michael (Mylissa) Taylor, Heather Wilson, Ryan (Elizabeth) Wilson, Autumn (Kyle) Halfacre, Danielle Eggemeyer, Sarah Hill; his great grandchildren: Chase Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Cole Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Esther Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Tirzah Taylor, Joanna Taylor, Madison Taylor, Mackenzie Taylor, Liam Wilson, Nattella Halfacre, Havilah Halfacre, and Gloria Eggemeyer.

Pete is also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Stacey Hill, great granddaughters, Nadia and Klara Halfacre, and a sister, Polly.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, at 11:00 am, at Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, IL, with Pastor Andy DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta, IL.
