AVA – Phyllis E. Winters, 89, of Ava, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, Illinois.

Phyllis was born October 8, 1936, in Desoto, IL to Lloyd and Demova (Nehring) Elliott. Phyllis married LaVern L. Grace on October 8, 1955, in Ava, IL. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1980. She then married Jackie T. Winters on April 4, 1987, at Pleasant Hill Church, Murphysboro, IL. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2017.  Phyllis had retired from First National Bank, Ava, IL, as a receptionist and teller. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ava, IL and the Ava Senior Citizens.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Steven (Karen) Grace of Ava, IL, David (Angela) Grace of Leland, NC, her step children, Denise (Dee Dee) Garver of Vergennes, IL, Kurt Winters of Ava, IL, her grandchildren: Mitchell Garver, Mindy Dudenbostel, Christopher Grace, Julia Grace, Tyler Garver, Will Grace, Will Knapp, and Nate Knapp; several great grandchildren, and her sister, Judy Goddard of Ava, IL.

Phyllis is also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Donald.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, 12:00 noon, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Minister Debra Rathert officiating. Burial to follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL. Visitation will be Friday morning, where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service.
