SPARTA - Pearl Mahan, 93, of Sparta, passed away at 6:45 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. Pearl was born in Schuline, Illinois on July 10, 1921, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Hagen Eggemeyer. She married Lester K. Mahan on May 23, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1972. Pearl was a Homemaker and worked as a clerk in various stores in Sparta. Pearl was a lifetime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Sparta. She dearly loved to play Pinochle with her friends. Pearl is survived by daughters, Janet (Ron) Zeidler of Sparta and Mary Jane (Ron) Eggemeyer of Paducah, KY; daughter-in-law, Wilma Mahan of New Baden, IL; grandchildren, Stephanie, Bob, Neil and Patrick Mahan, Lynda (Jeff) Hess, Mike (Wendy) Zeidler, Richard (Tina) Eggemeyer, Ryan Eggemeyer; great grandchildren, Russ, Mitch, Ashley, Austin & Elizabeth Mahan, Alex, Kyle & Brody Hess, Katie & Jeremy Zeidler, and Morgan, Alexi, Nick, Joe, Blake & Cade Eggemeyer; one great great grandson, Wyatt Hess; sister, Kathleen Kane of Marissa, IL; sister-in-law, Betty Eggemeyer of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews. Pearl was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son, Keith Mahan, one brother, Harvey, one sister, Viola Grefe; and special friends, Ruth Schrumpf and Bill Branson. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Sparta with Richard McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Sparta on Thursday from 5 pm until 8 pm then from 9 am until the hour of service on Friday. Memorials may be given to Randolph County Humane Society or Trinity Presbyterian Church.
