JACOB - Pearl L. Korando, 81, of Jacob, passed away at11:32 P.M. Saturday, November 14, 2009, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL. Pearl was born on September 28, 1928 in Campbell Hill, IL, the daughter of William and Maria Ehlers Thies. She married James "Gene" Korando on August 7, 1948 at St. Elizabeth's in Ava. Together, they spent 61 years of loving, cherishing, and nourishing each other. Pearl was a homemaker and was the backbone of her and her husband's and her son's farms for many years. She was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle and the St. Ann's Altar Sodality. Pearl loved sports and attended many games of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a die hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Pearl loved her family and will live on in the hearts of many. Pearl is survived by her husband, James "Gene" Korando of Jacob; children, Kathryn Wilson of Jacob, Gary (Pam) Korando of Ava, Marietta Shepard of Jacob, Brian Korando of Jacob, Dale (Diane) Korando of Jacob, Patti (Mike) Barone of Jacob and Teresa (Joey) Bastien of Murphysboro; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby (Herbert) Korando of Jacob; and one brother, Ralph Thies of Jacob. Pearl was preceded in death by her Parents, three infant brothers, two brothers: Melvin & Norman Thies; one sister: Flora Ebers; one infant grandson; and one great granddaughter: Kayci Ann Bunselmeyer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery in Ava. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Monday from 5 to 8 pm with the rosary being recited at 8 pm and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until 9:45 am. Memorials may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church or Masses.
