CAMPBELL HILL – Paul Schatte, 72, of Campbell Hill, passed away at 2:14 am, Friday, June 15, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Paul was born in Campbell Hill, on June 17, 1945, the son of Ervin A. and Irene Schutte Schatte. He married Mary A. Bockhorn on November 24, 1973 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Illinois. He worked for many years at Captain Mine, Percy and retired from IDOT, Pinckneyville in 2013. Paul was an Army Veteran of Vietnam Conflict. He was of the Lutheran Faith and a member of the U.M.W. of A Local #1392, Percy.
Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Schatte of Campbell Hill; children, Paula (Kevin) Lemke of Hillsboro, MO, Gina (Eric) Gladson of Steeleville, and Nathan (Katie) Schatte of Ava; grandchildren, Kinsley, Savannah & Lillian Lemke, Audrey & Caleb Gladson; and Seth & Kody Schatte; one brother-in-law, Orville Bierman of Jacksonville, AR; niece, Nancy Wildes of Honolulu, HI; nephew, Steve Bierman of Alabaster, AL; and several cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his Parents; sister, Phyllis; and two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Jeremy Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be made to the Paradise Cemetery.
