Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Paul D. Guebert, 92, of Steeleville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, Illinois.

Paul was born on June 3, 1934, in Steeleville, IL, to Paul T. and Elsie L. (Mines) Guebert. He married Ruby Rodewald on December 19, 1953, in Steeleville, IL. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2016. Paul was a retired Coal Miner from Arch of Illinois Captain Mine. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL and UMWA Local #1392.

Paul enjoyed going to the Steelville Senior Site, spending time with friends and volunteering there. He also enjoyed working as an Election Judge for many years. Paul enjoyed woodworking and was highly skilled at it.

Paul is survived by his children: Barry (Kim) Guebert of Steeleville, IL, Dale (Linda) Guebert of Davenport, IA; his granddaughter, Katerina (Levi) Harris, his great grandchildren: Alexandra, Brantley, Lainey; his sister, Shirley McNalley of Waterloo, IL, his sister-in-law, Judy Guebert of Herrin, IL, his special friend, Violet Dierks and family of Campbell Hill, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roland Guebert and his brother-in-law, Roger McNalley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, 1:00 pm, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be Friday morning, October 9, 2026, where friends may call from 10:00 am until hour of service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and can be mailed to Wilson’s Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
