CAMPBELL HILL, Paul A. Gearhart, 87, of Campbell Hill, passed away at 11:20 PM Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Illinois. He was born May 16, 1925 in Pomona, Illinois the son of Frank and Sarah (Gwinn) Gearhart. He married Norma Dean Adams on April 5, 1947 in Murphysboro, IL. Norma passed away on February 28, 1975. Paul married Catherine Parker on Saturday, September 20, 1975 in Morris, Illinois. He is survived by his: wife: Catherine Gearhart of Campbell Hill, IL; 2 daughters: Linda Wurth, Chillicothe, IL and Marcella Gearhart , Kankakee, IL ; 2 sons: P. Michael Gearhart, Ava, IL; and Richard Gearhart (Tina Manzullo) Chester, IL; 5 Grandchildren: Brian (Wendy) Lewis, Sara (Ryan) Dunbar, Terry Gearhart (Tracy Cheeks), Amber Barnhart and Casey Baltzell; 7 Great Grandchildren: Austin, Alex and Emma Lewis, Megan and Ryan Gearhart, Hazel Braggs and Cheyenne Starr; 1 sister Francis Aline Gearhart, Murphysboro, IL; 1 Sister-in-Law, Alberta Gearhart, Mantino, IL and several nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Maynard Gearhart; 1 sister Alvada Walker; 1 son, David Gearhart; 1 daughter, Rebecca Gearhart and 1 Grandson, Shane Gearhart. Paul served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Illinois Department of Corrections at Dwight and Joliet, Illinois. Paul was a member of the Murphysboro VFW Post #7190. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Wilson's Funeral Home Ava, Illinois with Edward Lambright officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Pass Cemetery, Alto Pass, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 7:30 am to 10 am. The preferred form of remembrance is contributions to the American Cancer Society.
