STEELEVILLE - Orville H. Alms, Sr., 86, of Steeleville, passed away at 8:50 am, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Orville was born in Chester, Illinois on July 11, 1928, the son of William and Anna Oetking Alms. He married Nita Firth on February 19, 1955 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. After working various jobs, Orville worked as a Lineman for Egyptian Electric Coop for 27 years. Orville was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville; IBEW Local #702; and the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville. Orville is survived his wife, Nita Alms of Steeleville; his children, Orville, Jr. (Mary) Alms of Steeleville, Scott (Sheila) Alms of Steeleville and Deb (Bruce) Hasemeyer of Steeleville; grandkids, Jared Alms, Alaina (Tim) Mevert, Brittany Alms (Scott) Riggins; Jodi Hornberger, Jacki (Rex) Conway and Jason Hornberger and his special friend, Jenna Mitchell; great grandkids, Colsen Mevert, Dalton Hornberger, Sadie, Lila and Rex Conway and Kaylee Darnell; and brother, Ardell (Doretta) Alms. Orville was preceded in death by Parents; sister, Pearl Alms; and brother, Donald Alms. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Kelly Bedard officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Roof Fund.
