SPARTA - Opal Grab, 88, of Sparta, passed away at 5:27 am, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at her daughter's home in Marissa, Illinois. Opal was born in Red Bud, Illinois on May 25, 1927, the daughter of Edward and Sarah E. Harris Pollard. Opal was retired from Chester Mental Health. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sparta. Opal is survived by her children, David (Frances) Grab of Homer Glen, IL, Larry (Susan) Grab of Steeleville, IL, Patricia Ford of Cutler, IL, Debra (Mark) Hancock of Sparta, and Tina Waller of Marissa; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lester; two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Sparta with Rev. Tim Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at the Tilden Cemetery in Tilden, Illinois. Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church in Sparta on Tuesday from 6 pm until 8 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until 11 am. Funeral is under auspices of Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville. Memorials may be given to the Building Fund at the First Baptist Church in Sparta.
