PERCY - Omer Hornbostel, 84, of Percy, passed away at 12:10 am, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Omer was born in Welge, Illinois on April 19, 1930, the son of Elmer and Alma Oetking Hornbostel. He married Shirley Voss on November 27, 1954 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. Omer is retired from World Color Press in Sparta. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville and a former member of Percy Fire Department having served for 26 years. Omer is survived by his wife, Shirley Hornbostel of Percy; his children, Curtis (Carla) Hornbostel of Rockwood, IL, Neal Hornbostel of Percy, Nadine (Howard) Wilson of DuQuoin, IL, Sherry (Matt Mathis) Hassebrock of Willisville and Rene (Dave) Draves of Nashville, IL; eight grandchildren, Stacey and Sarah Draves, Kaylin Wilson, Kyle Hornbostel, Shelsea Luehr, and Paige, Casey and Summer Hassebrock; two great grandchildren, Addyson & Madalynn; and three sisters, Viola Koch of Percy, Lavera (Ralph) Biermann of Steeleville, and Ruby (Earl) Ernsting of Percy. Omer was preceded in death by his Parents. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Kelly C. Bedard officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until 11 am then from Noon until 1 pm at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran School, St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Paradise Cemetery.
