CHESTER – Norman O. Fraembs, 91, of Chester formerly of Steeleville passed away at 2:15 AM, Friday, September 21, 2018, at Independent Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.
Norman was born on September 29, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Rudolph and Marjorie (Blake) Fraembs. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, PFC 19th Infantry of the 24th Division also known as Rock Chica Monga, having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, he then returned home and married Velma Rickenberg, on January 29, 1949, in Walsh and they shared 61 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 23, 2010. Norman was retired from World Color Press in Sparta, and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bremen, the BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, VFW Kaskaskia Post #3553, Chester and was a former member of the church council having served for 12 years.
Norman is survived by his son; Norman Lee (Clara) Fraembs, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, 2 grandchildren; Jeffery (Amy) Fraembs, and Deanna (Todd) Kalina, great grandchildren; Cameron Fraembs, Devin Fraembs, August Kalina, and Greyson Kalina.
Mr. Fraembs was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Bremen, with Rev. Dennis Scoville officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, then on Wednesday from 9 to 10 at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer's Association.
