PERCY – Norma Kothe, 101, of Percy, IL, fell asleep in Jesus, Thursday, December 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Norma was born March 14, 1924, in Addison, IL to Bernhard and Clara (Finke) Ahrens. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Addison, IL. Norma Married Eduard Kothe on March 15, 1947, in Addison, IL. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1996.
Norma worked in various offices in the area over the years. After retirement she volunteered with the national group, Lutheran Braille Workers, learning to type and proofread braille materials for the blind. Norma was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Wine Hill), Steeleville, and was active in the Ladies Aid for many years. She also was an active member of the Steeleville Lions Club. Norma enjoyed playing Scrabble and Pinochle.
Norma is survived by her children: Jeanette McNeill of Percy, IL, Richard (Arlene) Kothe of Central City, NE, Vernon (Karen) Kothe of Perryville, MO, Beverly (Rick) Froemling of Campbell Hill, IL; her grandchildren: Kristina (Jeff) Haines, KerriAnn (Jonathan) Schmid, Timothy Kothe, Matthew Froemling, Daniel (Megan) Froemling, Benjamin (Joey) Froemling, Jeremiah Froemling, Aaron (Jennifer) Moore; her great grandchildren: Audrey and Elsie Haines, Abraham and Lily Joy Schmid, and Alexander Froemling.
Norma was also preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Theodore McNeill and her daughter-in-law Judith Kothe.
Norma lived her life firmly believing in the promise of her confirmation verse; Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life."
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, 11:00 am, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Wine Hill), Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Sedwick officiating. Burial to follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be Monday morning, December 22, 2025, where friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to LBW – Lutheran Braille Workers or St. Paul Lutheran Church (Chancel Art) and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
