Obituary

ROCKWOOD – Norma Sue "Sue" Kennedy, 90, was called to her Heavenly home on Thanksgiving morning.

She was blessed with many gifts, you never met anyone who made such beautiful blankets, quilts, and Christmas Stockings. She was also an incredible baker; Apple Crumb pie was a favorite and frequently requested by her family and friends. One of the joys of her life was sharing, she was always ready to sew or bake for anyone in times of sadness, joy or just because.

Her greatest earthly joy was her family. She and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy, shared 66 wonderful years together, and they loved each other more each day. They were married on February 11, 1950, in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2016. Their marriage was an inspiration to us all. She was blessed with three beautiful children: Robert, Robin, and Rick. Sue was also blessed with four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was a wonderful, giving, selfless Mom and Mamaw, and she was so deeply loved by all of us.

She would want to make sure to say that her faith in God was the center of all things in her life. In all of life's challenges, big and small, she stood strong in her faith. She always said that she was not afraid to profess her faith and share it with others. You could feel the power and conviction of her faith each time she shared her testimony of how God sustained her throughout her life. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Rockwood, IL.

She was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. She will be missed, but we rejoice in the Heavenly reunions she is experiencing in the very moment, especially with Jesus, her beloved husband Bob, and her baby boy Bobby.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Robin ( Jerry) Bierman, her son, Rick (Sherry) Kennedy, her brother Jack (Darlene) Aldredge, her sister, Ruth Ann Darden, her grandchildren: Kristen (Todd) Cordell, Jennifer Hurley, Alisa (Jeff) Herrell, Jacob (Dani) Kennedy; her great grandchildren: Clay (Rachel) Herrell, Kennedy Herrell, Spencer Hurley, Beckham Cordell, Kelsey Hurley, Mackenzie Hurley, Mia Cordell, Carter Kennedy and Rhett Kennedy. She was also known as Mamaw by our special friends and family; Kyle, Melania, Myla and Kylaina.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her son, Bobby, her mother, Blanche Ellis, her sister, Wanda Woods, and her brother Bill Alldredge.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2024, 3:00 pm, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Rockwood, IL, with Rev. Dr. Cecil Dunning officiating. Burial to follow at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery, Rockwood, IL. Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2024, where friends may call from 1:30 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, Sue would love for all who knew and loved her to share God's Word with others and live as an example of His love each day.
