SPARTA – Neil A. Schoeneberg, 70, of Edwardsville, IL formerly of Sparta, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at River Crossing Nursing Home in Edwardsville, IL.

Neil was born June 8, 1952, in Murphysboro, IL the son of Otto and Edna Lucille (McIntyre) Schoeneberg, Jr. He married Victoria J. Willingham on September 25, 1993, in Winkle, IL.  She preceded him in death on December 26, 2021.  Neil was retired was the Union Pacific Railroad and other self-employed businesses.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sparta, IL. He was also a member of the Sparta Rotary.

Neil is survived by a son, Chet Schoeneberg of Carbondale, IL; 2 daughters, Avonlea Schoeneberg and Mariah Schoeneberg, both of Edwardsville, IL; 2 brothers-in-law, Eric (Tammie) Willingham of Caseyville, IL and Alan (Sharilyn) Willingham of Belleville, IL; mother-in-law, Margaret Nicholson of Sparta, IL and a grandchild, Emerson.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother and sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 6PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Terry Jackson officiating.  Friends may call on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 4-6PM at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville.  Memorials may be given to the Randolph County Humane Society.
