She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Samuel, Herbert, and Hubert DesRocher; and sisters Eileen DesRocher and Fay D. Killgrove. Nathalie, who was affectionately called "Nat" by friends and relatives, attended Percy Grade and High Schools from 1929 until 1939. She earned her high school diploma from Steeleville High School in 1940. She loved music and had fond memories of playing and singing in music contests while in school and with her friends at the First Baptist Church in Percy. She found the love of her life and married Melvin Kiehna in Percy on June 27, 1941. A devoted mother and housewife, she loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. The family couldn't wait until Christmas time when Nat would join Aunt Fay for their yearly candy baking day. They would make delicious cookies, peanut brittle, divinity, and fudge for all to enjoy. When her sons were in college, she helped out by working on the production line for the Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation at the Steeleville plant. Married to a Navy veteran of World War II, Nat served as a member of the Percy American Legion Auxiliary. Mel and Nat loved to travel and had fond memories of their trips together. Early in their marriage they would often take the boys to Miami to see Aunt Hope and Uncle Gideon DesRocher. Traveling through the beautiful Smoky Mountains was a treat as they made their way to and from Florida. Later on they were able to travel to Europe and to take a special trip to Hawaii with her brothers and their wives. The trip was especially meaningful, since the men had been in the Navy during WWII and had made their way through Hawaii to the fighting in the Pacific. Pictures from these trips have provided wonderful memories. Services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 10 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Pastor S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Percy. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home and on Tuesday morning until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Steeleville.
