SPARTA – Nancy S. Hutchinson, 71, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Nancy was born in Sparta, Illinois, on July 12, 1951, the daughter of Walter Mines, Jr., and Ruby L. (Mahan) Mines. She married John Hutchinson, on June 9, 1990, at Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, IL, where she was a member of the church and church council. Nancy then became a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL, St. Ann's Altar Sodality Society, Sparta, IL, and Eucharistic Minster of Our Lady of Lourdes. Her service to  Boy Scouts of America #332, Sparta, IL, consisted of Cub Scout Dean Leader, Assistant Cub Master and Troop Committee. Nancy was involved in Youth Education at Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, IL. She worked at Spartan Printing for 20 years, retired and raised both of her sons. She volunteered as Playground Supervisor at the grade school and then worked as the church Secretary for 16 years. Nancy enjoyed camping, bowling, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. She was a collector of many things and loved refinishing old wooden pieces. Nancy also enjoyed crafts, cooking, sewing, painting, and going to craft shows with her father.

Nancy is survived by her husband, John T. Hutchinson of Sparta, IL, sons: Johnathan W. Hutchinson of Sparta, IL, Matthew A. Hutchinson of Sparta, IL,; brother, Jerry (Kathryn) Mines, and their daughters Michelle and Nicole (Terry) of Carlyle, IL, sister-in-law, Mary (Robert) Lunnemann, and their son Robert & family, brother-in-law, Fredric (Betty) Hutchinson, and their sons, Fredric, Jr. and Joseph, and several other nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL, with Father Iuvenis Iheme officiating.  Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 5 – 8 pm, Monday, and 9 – 10 am, Tuesday, at the church. Rosary will be recited at 7:45 pm, Monday evening. Memorials may be given to St. Ann's Altar Sodality Society or Knights of Columbus Council #6577, and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O.
