AVA, Myron Owen Morrison, 87, of Ava, passed away at10:20 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, IL. Myron was born June 09, 1921 in Morley, Missouri the son of Benjamin Franklin Morrison and Anna Virgin (Gipson) Morrison. Myron married Ina Gaynell Simmons in Fornfelt, Missouri on November 27, 1938. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2005. Myron graduated from Sikeston, MO High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Wasp during World War II. Myron was a commercial artist and had worked for Hancock Fabrics in Tupelo, Mississippi as an advertising manager for 24 years until he retired in 1989. In 2002 Mr. & Mrs. Morrison moved to Ava, Illinois. He was one of the two featured artists at the Old Bank Gallery in Ava. He was a member of the Kinkaid Christian Fellowship Church in Ava. Myron is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Frank)Cheatham of Ava and Rise Morrison of Belleville, IL; one son, Larry (Vickie) Morrison of Conyers, GA; nine grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his Parents, One Brother and One Sister. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Kinkaid Christian Fellowship Church in Ava with Pastor Roger Bastien officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Monday from 5 to 7 pm and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until 9 am and on Tuesday at Kinkaid Christian Fellowship Church, Ava from 10 to 11 am.
