STEELEVILLE – Morris Rickenberg, 69, of Steeleville, passed away at 2:25 am, Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Morris was born in Chester, Illinois, on March 3, 1950, the son of Norman L. and Margaret Duensing Rickenberg.  He married Linda Laurent on August 3, 1974, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. Morris was retired from Rickenberg Insurance Agency in Steeleville.  He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill;        UMW of A Local #1392; and the Steeleville Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.  Morris loved working, hunting and playing card with the Rickenberg boys.

Morris is survived by his wife, Linda Rickenberg of Steeleville; son, Chad (Grace) Rickenberg of Gordsville, VA; brothers and sister, Dennis (Martha) Rickenberg of Steeleville, Curtis (Nancy) Rickenberg of Percy, and Sheila (Gary) Romb of Steeleville; mother-in-law, Doris Eggemeyer of Red Bud; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sharon (Patrick) Mudd of Stanley, NC, Janet (Don) Wrobel of Slidell, LA, Michael (Sandy) Laurent of Sparta, Emory (Jeanie) Hodges of Weatherford, TX, Joseph (Angelica) Laurent of The Colony, TX, Terry (Tammy) Laurent of Ruma and Steven Laurent of Ruma.

Morris was preceded in death by his Parents and Father-in-law, Robert J. Laurent.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill, with Rev. Edwin Reuter officiating.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call on Friday from 5 pm until 8pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 am until 11 am at the church.  The preferred form of remembrance are memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund or Masses (Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta.
