WILLISVILLE - Miles A. "Nick" Nixon, 86, of Willisville, passed away at 9:37 am, Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. Miles was born in Willisville, IL on December 8, 1926, the son of Everett and Mary Hirte Nixon. He married LaRaine Bardle on January 14, 1950 at Pinckneyville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2001. Miles was a veteran on the US Army having served with the 534th Military Police during WWII. Miles was retired from Menard Correctional Center, Chester, IL. He was a lifetime member of the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville; lifetime member of the Kaskaskia V.F.W. Post #3553, Chester, IL; Lifetime member of the 40 & 8; and also a lifetime member of the Illinois Police Association. Miles is survived by two daughter, Sandy & Mike Laurent of Sparta; Candy & Loren Smith of Ava, IL; three grandchildren, Jordon & Erin White of Willisville, Robert Laurent of Sparta, and Christopher Laurent of St. Louis, MO; one great grandchild, Jesse White of Willisville; one brothers, Doris & Pauline) Nixon of Waterloo, IL; one sister, Emma Davis of Vienna, IL; one brother-in-law, Marvin Luedemann of Waterloo, IL; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Jones of Nashville, IL. Miles was also preceded in death by his Parents; one son, Randy; one brother, Paul; one sister, Barbara; and one great granddaughter, Destiny. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Wendall Byers officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday with an American Legion service at 8 pm and on Friday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to the Randolph County Humane Society.
