STEELEVILLE – Mildred J. "Millie" Kahre, 89, passed away at 2:58 PM, Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester.
Mildred was born on July 2, 1928, in Darmstadt, Indiana, the daughter of George and Esther (Hartman) Traub. She married Alfred G. Kahre, on May 16, 1948, in Darmstadt, Indiana, and they shared 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 4, 2004. Millie was a homemaker and retired from Gilster Mary Lee, where she worked in the lab at Steeleville. She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville.
Mildred is survived by her children; Daryl (Vickie) Kahre, of Chester, Jan (Mike) Wilson, of Sparta, 3 grandchildren; Lauren Wilson, of Columbia, Illinois, Kristen (Kyle) Runge, of O'Fallon, Illinois, Matthew Kahre, of Collierville, Tennessee, 1 great granddaughter; Anna Runge.
Mrs. Kahre was preceded in death by her parents, 1 granddaughter; Amanda Kahre, and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. William F. Engfehr, III officiating, burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday from 7:30 AM to 9 and from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's School.
