AVA – Mildred "Midge" Martha Thompson, 95, of Ava, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:11 am, on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Mildred was born in Orient, Illinois, on August 4, 1925, the daughter of Walter F. and Nona E. Tate Boehm. She married Claude E. Thompson on September 18, 1943 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on August 21, 2012. She was a Homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
Midge was survived by four sons, Paul (Trudy) Thompson of Murphysboro, Fred Thompson of Christmas, FL, Ken Thompson of Ava, and Brian (Patty) Thompson of Ava; three daughters, Shirley (Gary) McComb of Murphysboro, Kathy (Austin) Riggio of Murphysboro, and Teresa Thompson of Ava; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Midge was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Janet Peterson and Carol Thompson; one granddaughter, Kristen Maggio; one grandson, Damon McComb; one sister; and two brothers.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Murphysboro, with Rev. Gary Darnell officiating. Burial will follow. A walk through will be held at the cemetery on Thursday from 1:30 pm until 2 pm. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
