STEELEVILLE - Mildred Gordon, 90, of Steeleville, passed away at 4:55 P.M. Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, IL. Mildred was born November 10, 1917 in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Kuykendall and Ada Mae (Butler) Kuykendall. She married Wilbur Gordon on October 31, 1936 in Steeleville, Illinois, he preceded her in death on April 15, 1971. Mildred was a homemaker and and was retired from World Color Press in Sparta, IL. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville; AARP; and B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480 in Steeleville, IL. She is survived by two sons, Ralph K. (Fleta) Gordon of Sparta, Robert G. (Agnes) Gordon of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Keitha Jean Bauer, Michael Scott Gordon, Tamma Sue Stewart, Teresa Lynn Clack, and Brian Neil Gordon; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Kuykendall of Albany, KY, John Kuykendall of Roxboro, NC, and Henry Kuykendall of Ashboro, NC; and three sisters, Phyllis Bockhorn of Sparta, IL, Ada Jean Schellinger of Pocahontas, IL and Betty Jane Kane of Dallas, TX. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Raymond Barclay officiating. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Monday from 5:30 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
