STEELEVILLE – Michael Walter Miesner, 73, of Steeleville passed away at 7:40 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2020, at his home with his family.

Michael was born on January 2, 1947, in Murphysboro, the son of Walter and Irma (Von Strohe) Miesner of Jacob. He married Jacqueline Svanda on July 30, 1971, at Steeleville United Methodist Church. He graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, and he was retired as Vice President of Loans at First National Bank after over 27 years. Mike was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of the United Methodist Church, Sparta, and the BBK American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. He kept busy being "PaPa" to his 4 grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife; Jackie Miesner, of Steeleville, daughters; Nicole (Tony) Jonas, of Mukwonago, WI, Kristen (Jim) Vizcarra, of St. Louis, MO, four grandchildren; Emma, Michael, Lila, and Olivia, brother-in-law; Dale Berry, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Nelson Miesner, and sister-in-law; Bernice Berry, father and mother – in – law; Norman and Janey Svanda.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, January 6, 2020, at the United Methodist Church, Sparta, with Rev. Jerry Haley officiating, burial will follow at the Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the church where friends may call from 4 to 8 PM, and then on Monday from 11 AM until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, or the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family with the arrangements.
