PERCY, Michael Hicks, 58, of Percy, passed away at 8:53 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at his home in Percy, Illinois. He was born October 10, 1953 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of Jessie Hicks and Betty (Wilson) Hicks. Michael married Virginia Mitchell on September 17, 1989 in Percy, IL. Virginia passed away on July 25, 2011. He is survived by his: 3 step daughters: Luereta and William Gilbert, Wahiawa, HI, Patricia and Michael Morrison, Pinckneyville, IL, Sara and Michael Petrowski,, Steeleville, IL; step son: Jimmy and Cheryl Hunt, Eufaula, OK ;12 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; mother: Betty Hicks, Steeleville, IL; 2 brothers: Mark and Carol Hicks, Olney, IL, Jimmy Hicks , OH; 2 sisters: Pam and Pat Locklear, Dallas, TX; sister: Jeannie and Denny Beshears, Steeleville, IL. Michael is preceded in death by his father. Mr. Hicks served in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam conflict. He was a retired Correctional Officer from Menard Correctional Center, Chester, IL. He was also a member of Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Wilson's Funeral Home Steeleville, Illinois. Rev. Charles Ellis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Steeleville City Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
