PERCY – Melvin H. Ohlau, 93, of Percy, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.

Melvin was born September 23, 1928, in Percy, IL, to Arnold and Alwine Meirhoff Ohlau. He married Betty Runge on March 10, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill. Melvin was a retired bindery worker and a Veteran of the U.S. Army with service in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO, B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville, IL, and held different offices at his church.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Betty Runge Ohlau of Percy, IL, children: Janet K. Ohlau of Arnold, MO, Larry Wayne (Judith) Ohlau of St. Louis, MO, Bruce A. Ohlau of Overland, MO; grandchildren: David Karasek, Joseph Karasek, Amanda Ohlau (Ronnie) Miller, Nathan Ohlau; great grandchildren, Blake and Kennedy Karasek, and a sister, Bernice Stromeyer of Percy, IL.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, son, John Ohlau, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 3:00 pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road, St. Louis, MO, 63125, with visitation from 1-3 pm. Committal will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021at12:30 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Wine Hill, with visitation at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL from 10-12 pm. Reverend Dennis Kastens and Reverend Sean Smith will be officiating. The preferred form of Remembrance is a donation to Peace Lutheran Church, St. Louis, or The Greater St. Louis Honor Flight and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
