PINCKNEYVILLE – Melvin D. Niemeyer, 87, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, Illinois.

Melvin was born January 5, 1938, in Walsh, IL, to Henry D. and Elda C. (Eggemeyer) Niemeyer. Melvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce and a retired Electrician. He was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Pinckneyville Eagles, American Legion Post 2504, Pinckneyville, and the Threshermen Association, Pinckneyville.

Melvin is survived by his grandson, David Allen Niemeyer of Pinckneyville, IL, his great granddaughter, Oakley Niemeyer, his siblings: Roselee Glenn of Millstadt, IL, Anneita Prange of Campbell Hill, IL, David (Diane) Niemeyer of Steeleville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Allen Dale, his brother, Ronald, brothers-in-law: Howard Glenn and Darvin Prange.

Melvin's wishes were for cremation with a private service at a later date. Memorials may be given to Lost Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL, and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
