CAMPBELL HILL – Melvin G. Ehlers, 74, of Campbell Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, IL.

Melvin was born November 22, 1947, in Campbell Hill, IL, to Ernest F. and Clara (Hornbostel) Ehlers. He married Meredith "Marty" Thies on May 1, 1971, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL. Melvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL, American Legion Post #1096, Campbell Hill, IL, and Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, Chester, IL. Melvin was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

Melvin is survived by his wife Marty Ehlers of Campbell Hill, IL, daughters; Melissa (Larry) Lange of Ava, IL, Mindy (Darrick) Schneider of Renondo Beach, CA; grandchildren: Jordan (Taylor) and Adison Lange, Dylan, Bradyn and Kamryn Schneider; siblings; Roy (Pat) Ehlers of Campbell Hill, IL, Ray (Alice) Ehlers of Carbondale, IL, sisters-in-law, Katherine Ehlers of Campbell Hill, IL, Karla (Bill) Kuhnert of Ava, IL, Lynn (Carl) Jones of Ava, IL, and brother-in-law Arlen Thies of Campbell Hill, IL.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Wilbert (Grace) Ehlers, Ernie Ehlers; sisters: Helen (Ed) Wilson, Pauline (Dale) Welty; infant siblings: Leroy, Ferdinand, and Ester; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jr and Leota Thies, nieces and nephews: Amie and Ryan Jones, Wilbert Dean Ehlers, Tina Ehlers, and Vanda Welty.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, with Minister Deb Rathert officiating. Burial to follow at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 6 - 7 pm, Monday, and 9 – 11 am on Tuesday, at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill.
