MURPHYSBORO, Melba Lee Hamilton, 80, of Murphysboro, formerly of Carbon Hill, IL, passed away at 4:45 P.M. Thursday, March 03, 2011, at her home in Murphysboro, IL. Melba was born August 09, 1930 in E. St. Louis, Illinois the daughter of Lester M. Grosvenor and Anna B. (Falkenberry) Grosvenor. Melba married Paul E. Hamilton on June 5, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi. Melba was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She and her husband moved to Murphysboro, IL in 1991. Melba is survived by her husband, Paul E. Hamilton, Murphysboro, IL; sons, Robert (Suzanne) Hamilton of Coal City, IL, Terry (Carol) Hamilton of Godley, IL and Ronald Hamilton of Murphysboro; four grandchildren, Tamara (Dave) Crater of Diamond, IL, Brooke (Kevin) Young of Diamond, IL, Shawn (Nicki) Hamilton of Diamond, IL, and Hope (Mike) Park of Crawfordville, IL; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Leslie (Sarah) Grosvenor of Ava. Melba was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Janice Kay Hamilton; and one sister, Geraldine Davis. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. James Easton officiating. Burial will follow at Glenn Cemetery, Jacob, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Sunday from 11 am until 1 pm. Memorials may be made to Glenn Cemetery.
