AVA – Max L. Tinsman, Sr., 94, of Ava and formerly of Toledo, passed away at 11:49 AM, Monday, April 8, 2019, at his home in Ava.

Max was born on November 22, 1924, in Toledo, Illinois the son of Charles and Grace (Park) Tinsman. Max was in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then married Mary Eggers, on October 20, 1945, in Crown Point, Indiana, and they shared 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 22, 2010. Maxed had worked for the Department of Corrections at Menard and retired from there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greenup, Illinois, the Illinois State Police Association, and the American Legion Post #764, Toledo.

Max is survived by his daughter; Deb (Fred) Hammel, of Ava, sons; Max L. (Donna) Tinsman, Jr., of Chester, Randy L. (Becky) Tinsman, of Fairmont, Illinois, 12 grandchildren; Corey (Ashley) Tinsman, Lori Rhea Reese, Lisa Rena (Michael) Abernathy, Nicole (Lee) Estel, Ronald Tinsman, Heather (Jason) Ogle, Deanna (Nathan) Reitz, Charles L. (Amanda) Tinsman, Todd Shaw, Kari M. (David) Hastings, Doug (Kathy) Hammel, Sherry (Rodger) Blacklock, 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother; Roger (Alberta) Tinsman, of Westfield, Illinois.

Mr. Tinsman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 2 brothers.

It was Mr. Tinsman's request to have private services that were held at the First Baptist Church in Ava on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, with Rev. Bill Stoklosa officiating, burial was held at the Toledo Cemetery, Toledo, Illinois on Friday morning. Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Ava.
