STEELEVILLE - Mathilda "Tillie" Gerberding, 95, of Steeleville, passed away at 1:10 am, Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester, IL. Tillie was born in Campbell Hill, IL, on September 2, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Lena Vogt Rathert. She married Elmer H. Gerberding on December 4, 1937 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1988. Tillie was retired from First State Bank in Campbell Hill. She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill; the Ladies Aid at St. Peter and a former member of the Jackson County Home Extension. Tillie is survived by on daughter, June Wylde of Murphysboro; three grandchildren, Sandy, David and Michael Rieckenberg; two great grandchildren, Shawn and Michael Rieckenberg; and two great great grandchildren, Tyler and Conner Milligan. Tillie was also preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Cindy Trend; three great grandchildren, Melissa and Amy Trend, and Travis Rieckenberg; one great great grandchild, Melissa Nicole Trend; five brothers; and three sisters. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 to 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or St. Peter Lutheran Church General Fund.
