ROCKWOOD - MaryJean Schroeder, 59, of Rockwood, passed away at 7:40 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at home. MaryJean was born on January 16, 1954 in Kearney, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Marjorie Welch Best. MaryJean married Michael Schroder on May 19, 1997 in Kearney, Nebraska. She was a Homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. MaryJean was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #52 in Kearney, Nebraska. MaryJean is survived by her husband, Mike Schroeder of Rockwood; two sons, Carl Serr of Ukiah, CA and Kyle Serr of Rockwood, IL; many grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three brothers, Henry Best of Litchfield, NE, Fred Best of Petersburg, NE and Russell Best of Wichita, KS; one sister, Opal Ostrom of Neosho, MO; and many nieces, nephews and friends. MaryJean was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Carl Krueger; three sisters, Gladys Richards, Jean Serr and Rosemary Fisher; and one brother, Richard Best. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Memorials may be given to the Family or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
