MURPHYSBORO – Marybelle Throop, 83, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:48 am, Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.

Marybelle was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on October 19, 1935, the daughter of Everett and Ruby White Steele.  She married George William Throop, he preceded her in death on February 14, 2019.  She worked at B and B Café in Ava for many years, and was later a Custodian.  Marybelle was a member of Ava Missionary Baptist and Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

Marybelle is survived by sons, David (Rita) Throop of Chester and Tom (Cookie) Throop of Ava; daughter, Linda (Mike) Fortner of Chester; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brother, John Steele of Las Vegas, NV; and sisters, Doris Jane Vegas of San Larenzo, CA and Sharon Stein of Murphysboro.

Marybelle was also preceded in death by her Parents; three sons, Mike Throop, Gary Throop and Paul Hiser; one great grandchild; brother, Hobart; and two sisters, Iris Garver and Wanda Herd.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Charles Allen officiating.  Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from Noon until 2 pm Wednesday.  Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association.
