PINCKNEYVILLE – Mary M. Waltemate, 89, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 6:35 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, Illinois.
Mary was born in Granite City, Illinois on October 17, 1926, the daughter of Jacob and Christina Koboleski Herschbach. She married Robert G. Waltemate on September 21, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1987. She was a retired Waitress, Checker and Property Manager at Steeleville Trail Court. Mary was a member of St. Bruno's Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, Illinois. She loved bingo, gambling boats, cruises, bus trips, pinochle and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by one son, Robert D. Waltemate of Marion, IL; one daughter, Betty Jean Riggen of Peoria, IL; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Day of Chicago, IL; and one brother, Clarence Herschbach of Big Lake, Alaska.
Mary was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son; one daughter; several brothers and sisters; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, on Monday where friends may call from Noon until 2 pm. Memorials may be given to Masses or the Salvation Army.
